So – what do you get if you cross chocolate, milk, cottage cheese, carrots, bananas and spices? Something incredible, that’s what! More on that in a minute 🙂
Thank you to everyone who wrote nice comments yesterday! Luckily y’all did make me chuckle, so I shan’t moan anymore 😀 BEHOLD: NEW FREYA!! But seriously, I love your comments and appreciate every single one 🙂
Onto the only day of the week that begins with an ‘H’ – Humpday!! My humpday started with a major hump to overcome – tiredness!! I just could not find the yellow brick road leading to the Land of Nod last night – though I got there eventually. Regardless, I was up and at ‘em, starting with an apple, a square of chocolate and 2 tsps wheatgerm pre-10k run/6.2miles. I took 52mins and had a lovely time 🙂 No pressure on speed (my splits varied from 8.15 to 8.35), just out there for fun. Although it was sooo hot today, and I had no water with me :s the last mile was actually quite tough, and I think that’s cos I was dehydrated. Did you know, for something like every 2% you’re dehydrated, performance drops by like, 15%? Or maybe even more…I don’t remember!
Anyway, I got back and chugged a load of water, before having a very cold, refreshing Green Monster – all the usual players, with my new Lizzi’s Chocolate Granola, dates, coconut and jam as toppings:
I spent the morning working…mid-work, I spied a VOLE run across my kitchen floor (a vole, not a mouse – a vole!!), so I ran outside, grabbed Kovac, and my clever killer kitty caught it, just like that 😀 (He then played with it for about a 1/2hr…but we’ll skip that bit!). Cats are amazing. I’d love to be a cat…spend the day lazing in the sun, catching butterflies (or at least trying to, a la Carter), being groomed…bliss. If you could be any animal, what would you be?
While we’re on the subject – TIME FOR KITTEN LOVE!!
Lunch was proper good today!! I began with an orange and some tomatoes:
Anyone else eat their oranges like this?
It’s all about the big orange grin – that’s where it’s at. [excuse the fuzzy hair…]
Then, I had the answer to my question at the beginning of this post!! I blended cottage cheese (approx 50-60g) with a smallish chopped carrot, a frozen banana, a splash of soya milk, cinnamon and nutmeg, poured it into a bowl, grated some cacao over it, and TA DAAAHH! I shall name it:
Pink Carrot Pudding,
cos that’s what it is 😀
BEST. BOWL. EVER. The nutmeg totally made it 😀
This would be SUPER after a hot run (it was very cold), but also as….well, just about anything! It was so so delicious.
For the final part of my luxurious meal, I had one piece of flaxseed bread – half was topped with cottage cheese, and this Japanese spice stuff (one of the things from my special delivery yesterday):
It was lovely! A weird taste that I’ve never had before…maybe kinda salty, but not…SO hard to describe! On the other half of the bread, I had chocolate PB, with 1/2 tbsp Grape Nuts:
LOVED the crunch!! My dessert was half of one of these:
A Nana’s cookie!! Again, purchased from Goodness Direct. I love her cookies – I had the peanut butter ones last time, so I thought I’d try out a new flavah. Her cookies have amazing, non-scary ingredients:
Organic wholewheat flour, rolled oats, mixed fruit juice, dextrins, canola oil, chocolate chips [made from super minimal ingredients, might I add!!], walnuts, baking powder, natural flavourings.
And, they taste INCREDIBLE. Melty, smooth, moist, crumbly….amaze. Gotta love Nana 🙂 (whoever she is…she’s probably 50 or so fat blokes, working their butts off in a sweaty factory somewhere…I prefer the image of a cute old lady, baking just for me every day, warm in her kitchen :P)
All in all, it was a super lunch 🙂
I then did more work, and had a RamboRando square of raw dark chocolate 🙂
The rest of the afternoon saw the rest of my snackage – another piece of flaxseed German ryebread, with papaya yogurt, and a hot chocolate:
Happy tummy 🙂
For dinner, I tried out some of this new kamut spaghetti (from my Goodness Direct box!):
I got it cos I lurrrved the nutritional stats! So much protein – about 14g per 100g!!
I paired it with a sauce, which I made out of cottage cheese, vegan parmesan, a splash of soya milk, garlic salt, chives and Noosh, which was blended.
Along with that, I had kabocha squash, parsnip and aubergine, and some almonds. All together:
Surprisingly simple, surprisingly delicious! Definitely one to eat again 🙂
For dessert, my usual 😀
