I don’t know about everyone else, but I feel like the blog world has died this evening! In the words of the wonderful crazy Bjork, ‘it’s oh so quiet….’!! It’s probably cos it’s a Friday night, and I’m the only person cool enough to be staying inside, tucked up with a nice folder of cognitive psychology notes…everyone else is out PAINTING THE TOWN!
Aaah well. On June 11th, I’ll be FREE! My exams finish that date apparently, so I too can be out doing my thang, strutting my stuff..it’ll be amaze. Actually I am going out tomorrow night – we’re going to Alice in Wonderland for Mother’s Day – has anyone else seen it? Reviews, reviews if you have!! I’ve heard very mixed stuff – but it has Johnny Depp, and he’s hot, therefore anything with him in it can’t be a bad thing 😀
Onto today – I had an amazing afternoon, out of this world incredible.
Actually I lie – it was very dull. I went into town to get some Mother’s Day cards and some fancy chocolates for my mum to give to her mum – oh how I love buying nice chocolate 🙂 there is so much deliciousness out there! But I actually didn’t buy any for myself..I ended up buying TEMPEH instead! I’ve seen it on Kath’s blog and on Meghann’s, and I’ve been dying to try it – today I found some….I also picked up some flaxseed – again, I see this all over the blog world (particuarly in vegan baking – flaxeggs, anyone?) so I’m very excited about my new purchases 😀
When I got home, I tucked into the last of my So Crispy bites things:
I’m sad I’ve finished them all now…they were so good! I also had an almond cookie:
And a hot chocolate:
YUM x a lot!!
Then came dinner…oohh it was SO GOOD again! I really couldn’t decide what to have, so I settled on a tried and tested recipe so I knew it’d be good (and no, it wasn’t stuffed pasta for once!) – durum wheat chicken surprise! (Terrible name, I know :s).
I started by boiling up 40g durum wheat with 1/2 a stock cube, cinnamon and nutmeg and a squeeze of tomato puree:
Meanwhile, I roasted up parsnip and kabocha, but I covered it all in agave, cinnamon, garlic, nutmeg, thyme and rosemary:
I also roasted a chicken breast – but that came out nasty – everything else was cooked but the chicken was pink still, so I threw it in the microwave for 2mins, and it came out so, so tough and gross 😦 Ah well – the veggies more than made up for it today – HOLY YUM!
I have never done them that good…so sweet, so soft, so flavourful…gosh gosh 😀
I literally could have eaten a giant bowl of those parsnips. I’VE NEVER TASTED ANYTHING SO GOOD! Ah 🙂
Why is it the best food I cook is always eaten when I’m watching Masterchef? I seem to remember this happening last week too….one of the mysteries of the modern world, no doubt.
Dessert, so boring I shan’t even type it.
But that was my evening anyway 🙂 I’m going to go and finish some notes now – I’m reading/writing up all my stuff about the eye, and rods and cones and light and perception…dry and difficult. Aka NASTY! I’m not enjoying myself 😦
So as not to finish this post on a dreary note, I’ll leave y’all with some cute pics – kittens and Chika! Enjoy 🙂
