Yes. I have a terrible dirty habit…more on that in a minute!
Firstly I thought I’d share with y’all these pretty pics I took on my walk into uni this morning:
Snow + sun = lots of fun!! I think it looks like the wilds of Canada or something (not that I’ve been, but you know..)
Secondly, I thought I’d share my delightful news: remember that test I was panicking about a few weeks ago? I got the results today –
90%!!
That made my morning ๐ I also got a B- on my lab report; I can’t seem to get above a B on those darn things, they’re so hard!!
And now that’s done – food stuff!!
I was walking round campus to my next lecture when I caught site of this little stool trying to raise money for the Haiti earthquake appeal – they were selling Krispy Kremes and freshly made cream cake!!
I didn’t buy any – donuts and cream cake? SO not my thing! I sure did get a weird look from the guy at the stool though when I whipped out my camera ๐ oh the joys of being a food blogger!
Food like that really doesn’t appeal to me anymore. I think cos I make all my own food from scratch, and it’s all healthy, my body now craves it. There wasn’t a single ounce of me that wanted any of the cakes they were selling – that seems so strange, coming from a 19yr old uni student! We’re ‘meant’ to want to eat unhealthy food haha!
That’s the benefit of making your own stuff – healthy cravings! But there’s another benefit too – you avoid all the additives and random *crap* they add into really simple food nowadays. For example, I was in the Campus Shop looking at the sandwiches, and I came across a Four Cheese sandwich. It was just bread, butter, cheese and a bit of salad…being a bit obsessed with food (:p), I was curious to see how much protein a cheese sandwich contained (as you do), but when I flipped it over – check out the MAMMOTH list of ingredients – IN A CHEESE SANDWICH!!
Check out that list! I know you probably can’t see it in detail, but believe me, there was a lot of words I couldn’t pronounce right there…just to make a cheese sandwich! It’s so ridiculous!! It totally puts me off buying pre-packed food. I mean, surely that stuff can’t be GOOD for me!? (I mean if I bought it all the time – once in a while is fine cos we all have to sometimes :))
However, that leads me on to admitting my dirty habit….
I harp on about healthy eating and avoiding processed foods…..so I’m very ashamed to admite:
I like diet soda.
Yep! That drink is SO ghastly, and the ingredients are SO bad for me – yet I still drink it ๐ though I have cut down MAJORLY – you know I used to get through fourteen litres a week of Diet Coke?! That was at the height of my addiction!! I had to go cold turkey to rid myself of that obsession ๐ But I allow myself one or two 500ml bottles a week – after all, it’s all about the 80/20 rule isn’t it!? Diet soda is my ‘bad 20’ ๐
Do any of you have any nasty habits like that, that you know are bad but don’t want to give up? I bet loads of people have smoking as one :s
Blerrh after all the unhealthiness of the blog so far, I better steer it back to better things!
I decided to take a long weekend – my lectures on Monday got moved, and I’ve ended up with only once class tomorrow. I can do the work at home, so I decided a 4 day weekend was far more appealing ๐
So I shot back from my afternoon lectures, packed my stuff and drove into the sunset ๐ On the way home, I snacked on 20 almonds:
When I got back, I did a short (13minutes) section from a workout DVD to release some frustration; to all you English people out there, you’ll understand why – JEDWARD were on the radio. UGH! Most annoying twins on earth!! I felt better after my workout, and the hot chocolate that followedย ๐
For dinner, I had great plans (I really did!!), til my mum came home and announced she was having stuffed pasta for dinner. And so blatantly, I had a stuffed pasta craving then! We have to feed our cravings….you can guess what came next:
Pumpkin and pinenut stuffed…so delicious and melty (though boy did I make a big plateful! I must make my portions a bit smaller ๐ I was starving though!)
After dinner, I could’ve worked, but I’d had a long day so I just watched some Desperate Housewives instead ๐
Just before this post, I had a hot chocolate, 2% greek and 2 Lindt squares:
Now I’m going to finish my Housewives episode, catch up on some magazines, and go to bed!! THE WEEKEND STARTS HERE! ๐
ย
well done on your test!! 90% is awesome ๐
and i know what you mean about craving healthy stuff rather than “bad” food, my friends don’t actually believe me when i say that i really don’t want sweets/cake/insert other food here but it’s true!
ALSO WHAT IS WRONG WITH JEDWARD!!!? I LOVE JEDWARD!
hatin’ on russel brand and jedward in a few days, unimpressed, i loooove them both, ahaa ๐
OH dear…you’ve just admitted in the same comment that you like Russell Brand and Jedward…I think I may have to block you from my blog ๐
I have a bad Diet Coke addiction as well! I have cut back quite a bit, but every few days I have a can of Diet Coke…I wish I could just break the habit! haha
I think cold turkey is the only way! But saying that, we all need our bad habits ๐
Hehe glad to know you’re only human. I had a diet pepsi addiction! I drank at least 3 glasses a day for over 10 years but randomly gave it up over a month ago. I’ve had it twice since then and didn’t really enjoy it. Cake, on the other hand, I CRAAAAVE! Even though I was never much of a cake eater before! The body works in mysterious ways! ๐ Good work on the test!!
Well done for giving it up!! Your body obviously thought cake was more important ๐
Thankyou re the test! ๐
i’m with you on both your views of Jedward and diet coke habit ; ), next time your in Waitrose, pick up a pack of ‘Blue Diamond’ almonds, i found them next to the alpro yoghurts and jelly. I first tried them in the states and their amaze!
xx
Oooh what are they? I haven’t heard/seen them! Are they flavoured almonds? xx
Beautiful pictures!! Congrats on the test-that’s awesome!! 14 litres a week?! That’s impressive haha ๐
I know….thank goodness I kicked that habit!
I love Jedward too! Maybe it’s just everyone named Hattie/Hatty…
