Aaah, I woke up so refreshed this morning!! The mouse in my room was quiet and I was in a big warm bed AND I had a great new book to read. All of this meant I got a full 8hours, and actually woke up perfectly in sync with my alarm at 7.55. A good night’s sleep does a happy Freya make 😀
And to top it all off, the sun had come out a bit, so the ice was melting 🙂 I deliberately took my time getting my pre-run snack ready this morning, to let it warm up a bit more (cos it was still proper cold…) – plus, although I felt refreshed and fizzy, I was really lacking motivation for a double figure run – but I really wanted to get one more under my belt before next weekend. I think the thing that was making me unsure was the thought of slipping on the ice – so I was SO relieved that it was OK! There was just a little bit of black ice on the first and last miles (which did catch me out a bit!), but the rest was alright 😀
Before I set out, I decided I’d do 10miles. So I fueled up with a tbsp of wheatgerm, a square of chocolate, and a piece of toast with a tiiiny but of PB (seriously scraping the bottom of the jar :p), Grandmother-made redcurrent jelly and a banana:
The jam was SO tasty! Nowt beats homemade 😀
I then ended up doing a – very fast, IMHO – eleven miles in 1hr 27mins.
It was awesome! I just ran at a pace which felt really natural and comfortable, and the time flew by pretty much (the addition of 3 Eminem albums also helped 😛 I have a varied taste in music!!) Here were my breakdowns:
- Lap 1 – 7.54
- Lap 2 – 8.04
- Lap 3 – 7.39
- Lap 4 – 7.57
- Lap 5 – 8.03
- Lap 6 – 7.59
- Lap 7 – 7.58
- Lap 8 – 7.55
- Lap 9 – 7.53
- Lap 10 – 8.07
- Lap 11 – 8.12
Over half of my miles (7 to be exact) were under 8mins! That made me so happy 😛 and on the longer ones, I reaally had to tell myself to slow down!! All that speed training I’ve done recently must’ve paid off 😛
By the time I’d finished and cooled off, it was getting pretty late. But I had one thing on my mind – oats in a jar!!
The jar in question:
(That’s peanut butter in there). I’ve seen oats in a jar on so many blogs, I couldn’t wait to finish my jar so I could do it 😛
I cooked up 1/2cup oats, 1 and a bit cups of milk, and cinnamon, and poured it into my jar. I also added in 3 tbsp grape nuts (one at the bottom, one on top, and 1 straight into my mouth :D) and some caramel chunks:
OH MY GOSH it was good!! I FINALLY got to taste the amazing delicious combination of melty PB and oats…..MOUTHGASM!!
Oh yeah, and on the side I had a Pink Lady apple.
That was boring compared to the incredible PB oats…I can’t wait to do it more! I was thinking, I could actually cook a scoop of PB into my oats, then the flavour would melt throughout, and the PB would break down a bit (all the stuff I have is so chunky and hard). I’m so excited about the prospect!
So I spent the rest of my morning finishing my cognitve psychology reading (2 chapters of developmental to go….) and baking a banana caramel cake for my sister’s roomate (he requested it):
The cake was goooodd (I tried a little bit off the corner) – I think when I eventually get round to properly writing my Recipes page, this cake’s going in there!!
And that was the extent of my morning 🙂 I’m now going to force down a late lunch (it’s 2.50pm) – running KILLS your appetite!!
Then horses to muck out and revision notes to write, then drive back to uni! Good times. Have a good afternoon!
